A Comparative study on the Helicobacter pylori in the gastritis of Modified urea agar

Abstract
Helicobacter pylori, a gram negative spiral bacilli, is known to be the cause of chronic gastritis and peptic ulcer disease and is strangly associated with gastric cancer. The authors have tried to make a new urea test more convenient for routine H. pylori laboratory study than CLO-test. Two piece of biopsy speciments were investigated with the urease test and histopathologic examination. The results urea summurized as follows : The urease positive reaction of CLO-test and modifyed urea agar from biopsy material were 70% and 70% in gastritis, 25% and 25% in gastric ulcer. Among the total 36 cases, 20 cases showed positive urease reaction from CLO-test and 19 cases were ureas positive from modified urea agar. 16 cases were urea negative specimen.
